Deposition Scheduled in Lawsuit Against Charlotte Hornets Star LaMelo Ball

A key step is moving forward in a lawsuit involving LaMelo Ball of the Charlotte Hornets, as a deposition has been scheduled in connection with a civil case filed by a Charlotte-area family. The lawsuit stems from an incident that allegedly occurred outside the team’s home arena.

According to court filings, the family claims Ball accidentally ran over their child’s foot with his vehicle while leaving an event near the Spectrum Center in 2023. The child reportedly suffered injuries and required months of recovery following the incident.

The upcoming deposition is part of the legal discovery process, where attorneys gather sworn testimony and evidence ahead of trial. Legal experts say depositions are commonly used to clarify details of an incident and determine how the case may proceed in court.

The case is currently scheduled to go to trial on June 15, unless the parties reach a settlement or other legal resolution beforehand. Attorneys for the family claim the organization had concerns about Ball’s driving habits prior to the incident, though those claims have not been confirmed by the team.

The lawsuit also names the Charlotte Hornets organization, with the family arguing the team shares responsibility for safety conditions surrounding the event. Team officials have not publicly commented on the latest development in the case.

As the legal process continues, the deposition could play a significant role in determining how the case moves forward when it reaches trial later this year.
