Sony Hikes PlayStation Prices Amid Tariff Concerns

Sony is raising prices on its PlayStation 5 consoles by $50, citing a “challenging economic environment,” according to Forbes. The move follows a 25% price increase in international markets earlier this year.

The PlayStation 5 now costs $549.99, while the Digital Edition rises to $499.99. The PS5 Pro will see the steepest jump, moving from $699.99 to $749.99. Accessory prices will remain unchanged.

Sony CFO Lin Tao recently warned that tariffs tied to President Trump’s policies could affect production across hardware, gaming, and semiconductors—though no specific console was singled out.

Other gaming giants have made similar moves. Microsoft raised Xbox prices in May, and Nintendo’s new Switch 2 launched at $450, with pricier accessories.
