The Charlotte Hornets are making headlines after their 2025–26 season was officially ranked as the most dominant in franchise history, according to new data highlighted by WSOC-TV.

The report, compiled by Stacker using advanced analytics, ranked the Hornets’ top seasons based on Simple Rating System (SRS) — a metric that measures a team’s point differential while adjusting for strength of schedule.

Leading the list is the current 2025–26 Hornets squad, which posted a 44–38 record and an impressive 4.47 SRS, the highest mark the franchise has ever achieved. The team has been led by rising star Brandon Miller, who paced the roster with over 20 points per game.

Coming in at No. 2 is the 2015–16 Hornets team, which went 48–34 and was anchored by All-Star guard Kemba Walker, one of the most iconic players in franchise history.

Other standout seasons rounding out the top five include:

  • 2021–22 season (43–39), led by Miles Bridges
  • 2017–18 season (36–46), featuring another strong year from Kemba Walker
  • 2016–17 season (36–46), also under Walker’s leadership

While championships often define legacy, this ranking highlights that consistent regular-season dominance tells its own story, showcasing periods where the Hornets performed at their absolute peak.

The inclusion of the current 2025–26 team at the top signals a potential turning point for the franchise, as the Hornets continue building toward sustained success and playoff relevance.

For fans in Charlotte and across the Carolinas, this recognition adds even more excitement to what could be one of the most promising eras in team history.
