Charlotte’s Mayor Vi Lyles and city council members plan to hold a press conference this afternoon to disclose results from a third‑party investigation into allegations of corruption made by Councilmember Victoria Watlington. WSOC TV
The probe was launched after Watlington publicly raised concerns of “unethical and frankly illegal” activity within city government—following a closed meeting and a secret settlement involving Police Chief Johnny Jennings. WSOC TV+2WSOC TV+2
The investigation was conducted by outside counsel Patrick Flanagan of Cranfill Sumner, who was appointed by the City Council earlier this year. WSOC TV+1
The press conference is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today. Watch for updates afterward.
