Charlotte Mayor, City Council to Reveal Findings in Corruption Inquiry

Charlotte’s Mayor Vi Lyles and city council members plan to hold a press conference this afternoon to disclose results from a third‑party investigation into allegations of corruption made by Councilmember Victoria WatlingtonWSOC TV

The probe was launched after Watlington publicly raised concerns of “unethical and frankly illegal” activity within city government—following a closed meeting and a secret settlement involving Police Chief Johnny JenningsWSOC TV+2WSOC TV+2

The investigation was conducted by outside counsel Patrick Flanagan of Cranfill Sumner, who was appointed by the City Council earlier this year. WSOC TV+1
