Multipule Officers Dead In Charlotte Shooting

Three law enforcement officers serving on a U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and one Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer were killed Monday after being met with “active gunfire” from a suspect inside an east Charlotte home. A total of eight law enforcement officers were shot, including three CMPD officers who were injured. 

The officers were serving together on a U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force when they were shot while confronting a suspect inside a home on Galway Drive. The officers were rushed to the hospital but died as a result of their injuries. The North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections confirmed to WCNC Charlotte that two of the killed officers were probation officers on a full-time task force with the U.S. Marshals.

The shooting suspect also died Monday. Two others found inside the home are being questioned by police.

Officials have not released the names of those involved.
