Just weeks after being crowned Miss North Carolina USA 2026, Brittany Boltinhouse has been stripped of her title following the resurfacing of alleged past social media posts containing racist language. The decision was announced by the Miss USA Organization and state pageant organizers after what they described as a thorough review of recently surfaced information.
While organizers did not publicly detail the specific posts, they said Boltinhouse’s conduct violated the organization’s standards. Reports indicate the alleged posts, made between 2017 and 2019 under an alternate username, included racial slurs and other offensive language.
In a statement, Miss USA Chairman and CEO Thom Brodeur emphasized that the organization has zero tolerance for racism, homophobia, transphobia, or language that demeans others. He said the decision reflected a pattern of conduct over time rather than a single incident and stressed that holding a Miss USA title is a position of trust and responsibility. At the same time, Brodeur encouraged the public to show compassion, noting that accountability should not come at the expense of someone’s humanity.
Boltinhouse is expected to release a public statement accepting responsibility and apologizing for her past conduct. According to pageant officials, the apology does not change the outcome but represents an important first step toward personal accountability and growth.
With the title now vacant, Myla Hadley, the pageant’s first runner-up, has officially been named Miss North Carolina USA 2026 and will represent the state at the upcoming Miss USA competition. Organizers say they have full confidence in Hadley as she prepares for the national stage.
