NC State continues Cinderella run, upsets Duke to advance to first Final Four since ‘83

The NC State Wolfpack continues their Cinderella run as they upset the Duke Blue Devils in the Elite 8 to advance to the Final Four in Phoenix.

It is the Wolfpacks’ first Final Four appearance since 1983 when they won the National Championship under head coach Jim Valvano.

Their big man, DJ Burns Jr., led the Wolfpack, scoring 29 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

NC State overcame a relatively slow start in the first half, shooting just 26.47% from the field. However, they were almost lights out in the second half, shooting 73% from the field.

The other DJ also played a huge part in the win as guard DJ Horne scored 20 points for the Wolfpack.

As for the Duke Blue Devils, they went cold in the second half as they shot just 33.3% from the field and were 5-for-20 from deep, two of their three’s came in the first half and the other three from behind the arc happened when the game was well out of reach.

NC State will take on No. 1 seed Purdue with a chance to play for the National Championship.
