VP Harris returning to Charlotte for fourth visit to NC this year

Vice President Kamala Harris will make another trip to Charlotte this week, less than 10 days after attending a campaign event in Raleigh.

Harris’ upcoming visit will happen on Thursday as she discusses investments in climate action, environmental justice, and increasing access to capital throughout the country including in underserved communities.

This week will mark her fourth trip to North Carolina this year and her 12th since being sworn in. She came to Charlotte in January and announced funding to help mental health professionals in schools and discussed efforts to curb gun violence.

North Carolina is expected to be a battleground state in the 2024 presidential election, which in all likelihood will pit President Joe Biden against former President Donald Trump.

In a Marist poll last month, Trump held a slight advantage over Biden, with 51% of people who said they definitely plan to vote backing Trump, compared to 48% for Biden. One percent said they are undecided.
