The music industry is mourning the loss of Grammy-nominated producer Tay Keith, who was found dead in his Nashville apartment on June 18 at the age of 29. Authorities say officers discovered the producer during a welfare check, and while no foul play is suspected, the official cause of death has not yet been determined pending autopsy results.

Born Brytavious Chambers in Memphis, Tennessee, Tay Keith became one of the most influential producers of his generation, helping shape the sound of modern hip-hop. He rose to prominence through his work with artists including Drake, Travis Scott, BlocBoy JB, Beyoncé, Future, and Cardi B. His signature producer tag, “Tay Keith, f*** these n****s up,” became one of the most recognizable sounds in hip-hop. Among his biggest hits were “Look Alive,” “Nonstop,” and the chart-topping “Sicko Mode,” which earned him a Grammy nomination and helped establish him as a leading force in music production.

Throughout his career, Tay Keith continued to work with some of the industry’s biggest stars while mentoring emerging artists and expanding his influence through his label, Drumatized Music Group. Friends, collaborators, and fans have flooded social media with tributes honoring his impact on hip-hop and the music industry. His sudden passing marks a tremendous loss for Memphis music, the producer community, and a generation of artists whose careers were shaped by his unmistakable sound.
